Supporting agri-rural economic and infrastructural development

The global objective of this grant scheme is to support improved access to and competitiveness on the national and international markets for Kosovo's agri-rural goods and services.

Target group: Tregu J.S.C. staff, Stockbreeders, Local livestock breeder, new employees Final beneficiaries: local consumers, meat processors, wholesales, input dealers, better environment etc.

PROJECT PURPOSES:

Main aim is development of agri-rural infrastructure through the establishment of an environmentally friendly livestock market while supporting women’s participation, to establish a livestock market in line with animal welfare and hygiene standards;

ACTIVITIES:

-A standardized livestock market with handicap-accessible facilities on the area of 1 ha, with veterinary ambulance, store for selling animal feed – contracted an company, toilets and, administration: Two boxes 10m*10m=100sqm (for around 200 heads sheep and pigs); two boxes 5m*5m=25sqm (for around 50 heads pigs); two boxes for pigs 5m*5m=25sqm (50 heads); 1000sqm box for 200 heads cattle’s and 500sqm for chickens (6,000 poultry); -A parking lot for stockbreeders - contracted and clientele of the livestock market -Install solar panels for heating water and outdoor lighting; -Integrating an animal waste management system;

RESULTS:

-to establish a livestock market in line with animal welfare and hygiene standards; -to integrate stockbreeders in the value chain by offering them opportunity to sell their livestock at the standardized livestock market; -Vertical integration of stockbreeders;
