Developing rural tourism by diversifying economic activities

OVERALL OBJECTIVE:

The global objective of this grant scheme is to support improved access to and competitiveness on the national and international markets for Kosovo's agri-rural goods and services.

BENEFICIARIES:

Target group: Planeti L.L.C. staff, new employees, clients, visitors, tourists, sports enthusiast, artisan Center in Gjilani Final beneficiaries: local community, local farmers, children etc.

PROJECT PURPOSES:

Aim of this investment is to increase economic activities in rural areas by promoting recreative activities and rural tourism – diversifying the recreational activities; improve environment protection and efficiency use of natural resources and creation of the new jobs for women in rural areas.

ACTIVITIES:

-Handicap accessible playground; -Two outdoor tennis courts, one of them will have seating area for the public, racquets and balls -A mill – styled souvenir shop for handicrafts -Solar panels for heating water 15 KW -Restored riverbed walls -Riverside walking route 230m width 1.8-2.5 m with benches (9), bins (9), and solar power lights (9) -10 contracted farmers -Participate in national and international fairs: Tourism and Sports Fair in Kosovo, -World Travel show in Warsaw, International tourism fair in Tirana. -Establish a website for bookings;

RESULTS:

-Handicap accessible playground; -Decreasing electricity expenses by 20%; -Increasing resort income by 10%; -10 contracted farmers; -Two outdoor tennis courts; -Solar panels for heating water 15 KW
