Fish Farm’s Production and Market Penetration Capability Development – An environmental and social responsibility-oriented model of business

The global objective of this grant scheme is to support improved access to and competitiveness on the national and international markets for Kosovo's agri-rural goods and services.

BENEFICIARIES:

Target group: "TROFTA E DRINIT BARDHE (TDB)" SHPK, staff members, at least 4 fish Kosovo farms, new employees, 35 workers Albanian and Serbs (35% women), Finale beneficiaries: local shops, consumer-community living in Peja, local economy, input dealers, 35 fish farmers family etc.

PROJECT PURPOSES:

Through this action TDB to improve intends its needed capacities to become more competitive in market through increasing by completing the equipment with fish hatchery and fish harvesting line.

ACTIVITIES:

Improved of the fish-farm production chain and its quantitative capacity of production: -Purchase a fish transport truck 3.5 MT to transport fishes to 4 small fish farmers; -Hatchery complete line for the fish from (size 50-350g.); -Fish feeding units 5-gram fishes (40); -Fish feeding units 10-500gram fishes (35); -Fish harvesting line equipment (pumps and grader); -Fish packaging line Vacuum (500 g. capacity); -Construction building 8m*5m*2m with instalments: deep-freezing room; Small quality control laboratory; Fish eggs incubator (10); -O2 production units (10); -International expert’s technical assistance; Improvement the quality and efficiency of the empowered fish production chain: -Thermic solar panels for water heating and wastewater treatment 10 KW; -Further Strengthening horizontal integration with 4 small fish farmers (purchase tools and fish equipment, supplying with 5 g. fishes); -ISO 14000 (environment), ISO 26000 (social), ISO 9000 (Quality) and HACCP

RESULTS:

-Production 1,500,000 fish eggs -Reduction of mortality at least by 15% -Increased buyers by 20% -Export to one European country -Average income of associations is going to be 43% after Action from 10,000 EUR per year to 14,200 EUR per year -ISO 14000 (environment), ISO 26000 (social), ISO 9000 (Quality) and HACCP -Planned total income 376,650EUR -trout production capacity 300MT/year with 4 small informal associations; -increased number of buyers from 21 to 26.
