PROJECT TITLE:

Promotion of rural tourism service and infrastructure in Shala area

OVERALL OBJECTIVE:

Creating conditions for rural tourism and family business development in Shala area.

PURPOSE:

Develop hiking routes in the high mountainous areas Creation of start-up touristic business and strengthening the existing ones Economic empowerment of rural households Increase the quality and quantity of traditional food production Advancing touristic services in rural areas Promote alternative energy use and production

ACTIVITIES:

- Hiking trail and signposting of directions and touristic attractions - Increase quality and diversification of services, promotion of energy produced by water and restoration of a traditional mill - Restoration of six traditional Oda/hostels for tourists - Green economy development in the targeted rural area - Study visits in other advanced tourist areas in Kosovo and region - Brochures and leaflets.

RESULTS:

- 100 tourists annually visiting the area and using the hiking trail 10 km - 9 new rural businesses registered - 60 women produce 15 type of traditional products for restaurants and tourists - 2 heritage pear and 1 apple orchard erected - The green economy and sectorial agriculture is developed in the targeted area (dairy farms, sheep farms and beekeepers improve the quality and quantity of production up to 30%) - 400,00 organic eggs produced annually - 4 tones of blackberry and raspberry produced - 12 tones of vegetables form six greenhouses - 111 training sessions with 141 attendants.
