Rehabilitation of the district heating network in Pristina
OVERALL OBJECTIVE:
To contribute to security of energy supply by reducing the thermal energy losses and by increasing the share of renewables in energy production in Kosovo.
PROJECT PURPOSE:
The objective of the project is: -Reduction of pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions by reducing the loss of heat and water and by increasing the energy efficiency in the Termokos system, and -Improving the quality of heating supply for the consumers.

ACTIVITIES:
The scope of this project covers the following: 1. Replacement of existing 103 substations with new substations in 87 locations as follows: i. 67 substations in the residential sector: -25 in Dardania district, -10 in the city Centre (Qendra), -24 in Ulpiana district, -8 in Sunny Hill (Kodra e Diellit) district, ii. 36 substations in the Public Institutions Buildings mainly in the Centre and Dardania districts; 2. Connection of new customers with 51 substations -network extension (see attached Appendix 3) of which: i. 15 substations for the new customers to be connected in the existing network in the Center, Dardania, Ulpiana and Sunny Hill districts and ii. 36 new substations for new customers as part of network extension including 30 in Kalabria and 6 in Mati districts. 3. Supply and install new pressure difference control valves (PDCV) to 100 substations 4. Supply and install around 7 km of pre-insulated pipelines and 0.6 km indoor wool insulated connection pipelines. Out of the total of 7.0 km of preinsulated pipelines there are 3.287 km shall be replaced and the other 3.362 km is for extension to new customer; 5. Shut-off valves (130 units) to be supplied and installed in 65 locations into the preinsulated pipelines; 6. Delivery of a water quality analyzer for water treatment to Termokos and supplying and replacing the primary side heat meter (DN350) at the Sunny Hill pumping station.
RESULTS:
Reduced thermal losses in the network and improved heating supply to around 25,000households, schools and kindergarden, several faculties and other public buildings, as well as to commercial sector.
