Improving processing and storage capacities to respond to competition pressure in the local and export market of wine

OVERALL OBJECTIVE:

The global objective of this grant scheme is to support improved access to and competitiveness on the national and international markets for Kosovo's agri-rural goods and services.

BENEFICIARIES:

Target group: Biopak Company owners, staff currently employed, 5 new employees, 20 big farmers identified for GAP certification and 80 small/medium farmers, 100 contracted farmers; Finale beneficiaries: increased Kosovo export, local consumers, construction companies, supplier of the equipment and machines, improved environment etc.

PROJECT PURPOSES:

With this investment, the company intends to expand and upgrade storage capacities, new technology wine bottling line, empowerment of women and reducing the environmental nature changes.

ACTIVITIES:

-Construction of the annexes building for processing and storages of wine with a surface of (35m*22m) 1,540 sqm. Two floors: upper floor a half for processing of wine and the second half for storage stocks, packaging, empty bottles, etc. The lower floor will be serving as storage for wooden barrels and the wine in bottles for aging purposes. -Supply with new technology wine bottling line of the closed block (not open like existing one), wine filtration flow and 2 storage stocks capacity 10,000 L, 50-barrel wooden barrels (225 litres). -Instalments of solar panels of the new facility (20 KW) -Training and certification of 20 biggest farmers and winery with Global GAP standards.

RESULTS:

-Sales in the domestic and export market are increased by at least 20%. -Increasing production capacity by 30%; -Exported value 450,000 EUR/yearly; -Processing company capacities – 1.44 million litres of wine per year; -Training and certification of 20 biggest farmers and winery with GAP standards.
