PROJECT PURPOSES:

1. Increased public trust and engagement in the media through ground-breaking, explanatory and investigative journalism that targets the public at large, youth, young aspiring journalists, media organizations, women, think tanks, CSOs, institutional representatives (local and national governments) 2. Amplified professional capacities of future journalists, CSOs activists and media organizations 3. Informed public (youth, young aspiring journalists, media organizations, women, non-majority communities, LGBTIQ+ persons, CSOs, institutional representatives) on innovative models, resilient media and journalism for the 21st century

ACTIVITIES:

1. Production of 8 “Konteksti show” Podcasts: to explore the background and context of various mainstream narratives and events 2. Production of 12 Video Explainers: to take a complex issue and explain the different facets and aspects of it in order for citizens to understand its impact in their daily lives 3. Production of 24 Video teasers: to boost citizens’ involvement with the content 4. Production of 4 Multimedia Stories: to engage the public in a wide range of creative tools and formats that will help to display archival documentation, sound, photography, video, interactive mapping, profiles or personal interviews, contextual text or a storyline, timelines, maps 5. Production of 20 GAP Monitor Analysis: to scrutinize selected government decisions and analyse their overall impact on the life of Kosovo citizens 6. Production of 20 Feature Articles: to transform the Monitor Analysis in a journalistic piece and tackle one angle of it that links directly to the well-being of citizens 7. Organizing of 5 Discussion: to engage the public, CSO-s and media in certain topics of Monitor Analysis to spark larger discussion on socio-political issues tackled by the analysis 8. Implementation of 3 cycles of Mentorship Program: to increase the capacities of young researchers and journalists by conducting thorough research, and then transforming that research into engaging content that reaches to people 9. Organizing of 8 Localized theme-based workshops: to improve the capacities of young aspiring journalists across the media environment to conduct specific issue-based reporting and coverage 10. Organizing of 5 Volume Up: to showcase innovative forms of media production and how they can be used to raise public awareness among citizens on a variety of socio-political issues, as well as to provoke public debate and ultimately request more from government institutions 11. Organizing of 1 series of Outloud Speeches: to trigger a larger discussion on various aspects of media freedom and development 12. Print Magazine: to offer in depth articles, a meaningful visual content, feature articles, interviews, photo essays around one theme

RESULTS:

Based on the Action’s activities and purposes, the following results are expected: 1.1 Approximately 500 people to be reached through each “Konteksti” podcast episode; 4,500 per the entire Action 1.2 Approximately 1,500 views per video, meaning 18,000 views per 12 video-explainers 1.3 Approximately 1,000 views per video-teaser, meaning a total of 24,000 views per 24 video-teasers 1.4 Approximately 2,500 readers per multimedia stories; henceforth a total of 10,000 readers per four stories to be published; and around forty (40) participants per each discussion, meaning 120 participants per four discussions 1.5 At least 600 readers per article, meaning a total of 12,000 readers per 20 articles to be published within the action 1.6 At least 600 readers per each Gap Monitor analysis; meaning 12,000 readers per the 20 analysis to be published throughout the entire implementation period 2.1 Twenty-five (25) young aspiring journalists and CSOs activists will partake in each of the eight (8) workshops; meaning two-hundred participants in total 2.2 A total of twelve (12) mentees go through a thorough mentorship program – four mentees per each cycle 2.3 Around twenty (20) participants will partake in the specialized, tailored masterclass per each Volume Up edition; meaning 100 participants per all 5 editions 3.1 Around fifty (50) participants will partake in the Volume Up Public Event, meaning 250 participants in total 3.2 Five (5) international key guests will share inspiring journalism and media practices with the Kosovar public through the Out loud Speeches 3.3 Around seventy (70) participants will partake and benefit from the practices shared through Out loud Speeches 3.4 Around 2,000 readers for one print magazine publication; and around sixty participants at the launch discussion
