Modernization of egg production in Kosovo

OVERALL OBJECTIVE:

The global objective of this grant scheme is to support improved access to and competitiveness on the national and international markets for Kosovo's agri-rural goods and services.

Target group: Eurofarm SH.P.K., current employees, 4 new employees, 5 local farms – horizontal integration, Final beneficiaries: local consumers, input dealers, retailers, local tax administration, better environment for rural people etc.

PROJECT PURPOSES:

With this investment the company intends to increase production capacity, improve the quality of their products (eggs and concentrate), mitigation of climate change through manure storage, social and economic women integration, improve hygiene conditions/meet ISO standards by driven by egg production from the cage to the table, reducing the use of fossil fuels.

ACTIVITIES:

-Increasing capacity of farms Eurofarm by 22,000 layings hence – modern egg facility 550 m2 (with drinking water filtering equipment, automated ventilation system with computer control system, equipment for handling packaging, classifying and labeling eggs – ensured on the preserved quality of the locally produced eggs, refuse removal equipment, egg classification machine, vehicle for efficient management of eggs production by-products; -Establishing new concentrate feed production – feed storage facility 150m2; -Introduced HACCP&14001 – 2015 environmental standards protect the quality of domestic egg production and preserves - egg storage unit 40m2; -Manure management the system that utilizes by produce and waste as a new product for local farmers – 200m2 manure disposal vehicle (special tractor) and manure spreader, natural fertilizer use; -Energy-efficient solutions – solar panels 6 KW; and -Water treatment system

RESULTS:

Additionally, 10,000 laying hens and new capacity will be 22,000 EU stile laying hens; -55 egg packages per day; -Local egg production fully replaces imports by 2022 (Customs data); -Introduced HAACP 14001-2015 environmental standards protect the quality egg production and preserves environment
