OVERALL OBJECTIVE:

Overall objective of the action is to improve the human rights standards in Kosovo mainly to counter and prevent all forms of Gender- Based Violence through education and awareness raising

PROJECT PURPOSES:

Specific Objectives: 1: Raise awareness across the community and general public that violence against women is a human rights violation and encourage every citizen to challenge it . Specific Objective 2: Promote the implementation of effective measures for preventing and combating violence against women at the national and local level .

ACTIVITIES:

- Conduct a baseline study on prevention, gender-based violence, developing and/or effectuating early local warning mechanisms, and provisioning victim support services in Kosov -organise workshop for 30 members Co-ordination Mechanisms on Protection from Domestic Violence on protection and combating domestic violence - Deliver six training sessions for 60 for members of the social work centers, local level community police, and other actors on increasing knowledge on Standard Operating Procedures for Protection against Domestic Violence, - Organize 6 workshops/60 participants for transmission of knowledge and skills to local media, portals, and municipal information offices on how to ensure a balanced reporting on gender sensitive issues, with a specific focus on gender-based violence. -Conduct an evaluation analysis with the stakeholders of the mechanism in the six municipalities -Organize advocacy meetings with mayors and/or assembly chairpersons - Conduct six workshops to draft three-year action plans in six municipalities - Support Municipal Coordination Mechanisms on Protection from Domestic Violence to draw recommendations -Info sessions with key stakeholders (youth/students, teachers/professors, social work centers) including local media, CSOs, local authorities, journalists on how to identify and prevent GBV and discrimination.

RESULTS:

Output 1: Society is informed that violence and discrimination against women are human rights violations; Output 2: Enhanced capacities of at least 30 workers in the Central and municipal authorities, Municipal Community Police, CSOs, in preventing and combating of violence against women through training sessions; Output 3: A Municipal Coordination Mechanisms on Protection from Domestic Violence is enhanced and functional in six municipalities [1] Output 4: Awareness-raising campaign developed and conducted through its three elements: Three conferences, videos and digital production; Output 5: Enhanced education and knowledge of at least 500 students, teachers and other educational staff on gender equality and preventing the fight against domestic and gender-based violence and gender equality at all Kosovo ethnic communities. Output 6: Key gender and specific GBV behaviors are analyzed and addressed through a baseline and end-line study.
